Dormin Sleep Aid
Dormin Sleep Aid has been around since 1950 and holds the distinction of being the first trademarked over-the-counter sleep aid brand in the United States. It was promoted in the 50s in publications such as LIFE Magazine as “The Safe Sleeping Capsule” that would provide “a gentle, reliable nudge into the welcoming arms of Morpheus.”
Dormin Sleep Aid prides itself on being fast and effective, boasting that you can take it closer to bedtime and it will help you fall asleep quickly. It works by using diphenhydramine HCl, an antihistamine, as its active ingredient. Antihistamines are often used as sleep aids because they block histamine receptors, causing your body to relax. This heightened state of relaxation can lead to drowsiness and, eventually, sleep.
Dormin offers its product at $6.99 for 32 capsules as the cheapest option and $11.99 for 72 capsules. Dormin Sleep Aid is also available at retailers such as Amazon and CVS.
BrainLuxury DELTA
While Dormin Sleep Aid uses an antihistamine as its primary ingredient to help induce sleep, BrainLuxury uses a more multi-pronged approach with its DELTA product – incorporating vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and healthy fats.
The DELTA formula is designed not just to promote sleep but to produce quality sleep. It gets its name from delta brain waves, the type of brain waves emitted during deep sleep, which is known to be the most restorative and one of the most beneficial phases of sleep. DELTA includes magnesium and vitamin D to facilitate the production of delta waves. Studies show deficiencies in these nutrients can affect sleep quality. It also contains the amino acids tryptophan and glycine. Tryptophan will help you fall asleep faster, and glycine will help you achieve deeper sleep. Finally, it contains fatty acids that studies suggest aid in sleep quality.
BrainLuxury offers its DELTA product in several sizes, with the smallest and cheapest being a trial pack for $29. Other size options include a pack of 10 ($91), 20 ($156), and 30 ($234). You can also sign up for monthly subscriptions that offer discounted rates.
Dormin Sleep Aid vs BrainLuxury DELTA:
Which is better?
While Dormin Sleep Aid wins in terms of price, BrainLuxury DELTA more than justifies the extra cost with its unique ingredient formula. Not only are DELTA’s ingredients not often found together in other over-the-counter supplements, but DELTA is designed to affect sleep quality. In contrast, Dormin Sleep Aid is only helpful in getting you to sleep.
Furthermore, while antihistamines can help you get to sleep, experts say they might not promote the best sleep quality. Additionally, antihistamines may have side effects like altered mental state, urinary retention, and dry mouth. While these side effects are mild and are usually tolerated well by younger people, they may not be ideal for the elderly and those with other preexisting medical problems.
Moreover, people will often develop a tolerance for antihistamines, so it may not be the best choice for long-term sleep treatment. Also, some have reported it causes hyperactivity, which is the opposite of its intended effect.
Dormin sleep aid is great for getting you to sleep and has been for many years. That little extra nudge that will help ease you into slumber will always be a better option than tossing and turning all night. But for quality of sleep and its effect on overall health, BrainLuxury DELTA is superior and well worth the extra money.
It is important to look at other lifestyle factors that contribute to sleep. Make sure to exercise, eat a nutritious diet, limit alcohol and caffeine consumption close to bedtime, and avoid too much exposure to blue light emissions from phones, computers, and TV screens. If you continue to struggle with sleep, consulting a doctor is always a good idea. Good quality sleep is one of the most restorative functions of the human body, and it is well worth prioritizing it.
